Town of Innisfail hires skatepark attendant, offers lessons

Residents of Innisfail now have a no-cost opportunity to learn how to ‘board’ at the Town’s new skatepark, which officially opened in late 2020.

In July of this year, the Town hired Jayce Downs, a local skateboard enthusiast and graduate of the Town’s Skateboard Ambassador Workshop, to act as an attendant at the facility. The new attendant program is intended to offer assistance to skatepark users but also provides training to those looking to increase their skill in the sport.

“Now that the town has this incredible facility, we felt it was important to help those who were interested in using it,” said Kane WIlliams, Recreation Program Coordinator for the Town of Innisfail, in a press release. “That’s why we offered these lessons at no cost. Anyone can drop in if they want to learn how to ride.”

The program is not only intended for new riders. Lessons will also help riders with some experience to sharpen their skills.
