Innisfail Aquatic Centre hosts Water Warz! on July 30

Jul 29, 2021 | 2:17 PM

With the easing of provincial health restrictions, Town of Innisfail Aquatic Centre staff are hosting a day of outdoor family fun designed to alleviate the effects of the continuing dry weather and warm daytime temperatures.

Water Warz! will take place on Friday, July 30 on the grounds adjacent to the Innisfail Aquatic Centre, located at 5117-42 Street in Innisfail. There is no charge to participate (excluding food services), and residents from around the region are welcomed to attend.

In this water-filled clash, combatants will dodge reusable water balloons filled with colored water while hiding behind a variety of physical barriers. Participants can also bring their own water toys.

Guests will enjoy music, food trucks and various water-related activities. The event will also include an area for younger children and a ‘staining station’ for participants to decorate any light-coloured clothing they bring. Face painting and glitter tattooing will round out the day’s activities.

“Considering the events of the past year, we’re really happy – and relieved – that we can offer this event to the community,” said Innisfail Aquatic Centre Supervisor Dawn Murray. “And it looks as though the weather will be perfect for this type of outdoor event.”

The action officially begins at 1:00 p.m., but food service will be available just before lunch. Four sessions of water-based skirmishes will take place throughout the day, with the last ending at 6:00 p.m.

Registration is suggested but is not required. Visit www.innisfail.ca/programs to register.
