Alberta adds 233 new cases of COVID-19 in last day

Red Deer now has 16 active cases of COVID-19, up one from Wednesday.

Recoveries are up two to 5,747 as the total number of COVID-19 cases attributed to Red Deer rose by three in the last day to 5,806.

Red Deer’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 remains 43, with the last one reported July 6.

The Central Zone as a whole has 80 active cases as of Thursday, up seven. There are five hospitalizations and zero people receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital, both the same as yesterday. The Central Zone has had 172 deaths linked to COVID-19, with none reported today.

PROVINCIAL NUMBERS

Today, Alberta added 223 new cases of COVID-19, out of 7,857 test results for a seven-day positivity rate of 2.38 per cent, up from 2.19 yesterday.

The active caseload is now 1,520, up from 1,334.

There are 89 Albertans hospitalized due to the virus, up five, including 20 in intensive care, up two.

Zero new deaths linked to COVID-19 were reported in the past day, meaning the provincial death toll sits at 2,325. There have been no deaths for two straight days.

Alberta has delivered 5,277,521 vaccine doses as of July 28.

75.7 per cent of Alberta’s eligible 12+ population has received at least one dose (64.4% total population), and 64.6 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated (55.0% total population)..

In Red Deer, 61,045 (66.6% of eligible & 57.4% *total population) people have received at least one dose, up 67 in the last day. Meanwhile, 52,676 (57.5%/49.5%) are fully vaccinated with two doses, up 201. (*Government of Alberta uses a population of 106,395 for Red Deer; of those 91,672 are eligible)
