Hospitalizations, ICU numbers down as active cases spike

Red Deer has 12 active cases of COVID-19, up three from Friday’s update.

Recoveries are listed at 5,743, up one, as Red Deer added four new COVID cases over the last three days for a total of 5,798.

Red Deer’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 remains 43, with the last one reported July 6.

The entire Central Zone has 53 active cases as of Monday, up 14 from Friday. There are four hospitalizations, down two, and zero people are receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital, the same as Friday.

The zone has had 171 deaths linked to the virus, with none reported today.

PROVINCIAL NUMBERS

Over the past three days, AHS confirmed a combined 387 new cases with 151 on Friday, 142 on Saturday, and 94 on Sunday. Last Monday, the province announced 130 new cases over the July 16-18 weekend, and 90 the weekend before.

There are now 1,083 active cases, up 284 from Friday’s total of 799.

An average of 5,913 tests were conducted each day over the past three days. The seven-day positivity rate is currently 1.80 per cent, up 0.98 since last Monday.

Provincially, 83 patients are currently hospitalized, down one, including 21 who have been admitted to intensive care, down five.

Since Friday’s update, there have been zero new deaths added to the provincial COVID-19 death toll, which stands at 2,322.

In Alberta, 5,221,375 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have now been administered as of the end of July 25.

Of the 12+ population, 75.4 per cent has received at least one dose (64.1% total population), while 63.4 per cent of the 12+ population is now fully vaccinated (54.0% total population).

In Red Deer, 60,855 (66.4% eligible/57.2% total) people have received at least one dose, up 181 over the last three days. Meanwhile, 51,978 residents (56.7%/48.9%) are fully vaccinated, up 782.
