Jul 21, 2021 | 3:20 PM

The City of Red Deer says is has promoted its acting city manager to interim city manager.

Tara Lodewyk took over the role this spring after the departure of Allan Seabrooke.

The City says she will continue to lead until the successful permanent candidate is found.

“Until we find a successful candidate, we are happy to announce that Acting City Manager Tara Lodewyk is being appointed interim city manager effective July 30. We have complete confidence in her leadership, and on behalf of council, want to thank her for stepping up to the plate over the last several months,” said Mayor Tara Veer.

“We understand the landscape is strong in finding the right person to lead The City’s operations and we are confident we will find the right candidate who already lives our RISE principles and will lead with stability, integrity and accountability.”

Lodewyk’s term runs until Feb. 28, 2022, though that may be adjusted depending on recruitment efforts.

”I am always happy to step up and help. I have a strong and supportive administrative team in addition to the ten years of leadership experience, community relationships and knowledge,” said Lodewyk. “I love this city and look forward to leading us through until a new city manager is hired.”

The City says it will continue to provide updates on the search for a permanent hire.
