Active cases across Alberta down to 569

There are 17 active cases of COVID-19 in Red Deer, the same as on Tuesday.

Red Deer added two new cases in the last day for a pandemic total of 5,783.

Recoveries are also up two to 5,723, while Red Deer’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 remains 43, with the last fatality reported July 6.

The Central Zone as a whole has 48 active cases, down one from Tuesday. There are six hospitalizations, down one, including one in the ICU at Red Deer Regional Hospital, the same as yesterday. There have been 170 deaths in the zone linked to COVID-19, with none reported in the last day.

PROVINCIAL NUMBERS

Across the province, Alberta reported 46 new cases on Wednesday out of 6,859 test results for a seven-day positivity rate of 0.68 per cent.

Active cases are down 30 to 569. There are 283 in Calgary Zone, 113 in Edmonton Zone, 102 in North Zone, and 22 in South Zone, plus one case of unknown zone.

There are 113 Albertans in hospital because of COVID-19, up one from Tuesday, and 33 in intensive care, the same as yesterday.

The province’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 is now 2,311 after one more fatality was reported Wednesday.

Alberta has delivered 4,920,417 vaccine doses as of July 13. 74.3 per cent of Alberta’s eligible 12+ population has received at least one dose (63.2% total population), and 56.5 per cent are fully vaccinated (48.0% total population).

In Red Deer, 59,993 (65.4% of eligible/56.4% total population) people have received at least one dose, while 47,416 (51.7%/44.6%) are fully vaccinated with two doses.
