Jury trial for Rocky Mountain House man charged in campground shooting

A jury trial is scheduled to take place next year for a Rocky Mountain House man charged in a campground shooting two years ago.

Edward Allister McKenzie, 22, is scheduled to go to trial in Red Deer Court of Queen’s Bench from Sept. 6 – 16, 2022.

McKenzie is charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm without being holder of a license, and use of a firearm in the commission of an offence.

On June 29, 2019 at approximately 4:30 a.m., Rocky Mountain House RCMP were called to an area hospital for reports of a male having been shot multiple times.

The shooting happened at a campground and the victim was transported by private vehicle to the hospital. He was then flown by STARS to an Edmonton hospital in stable condition.
