Car vs train collision claims life of Ponoka woman

A 26-year-old woman from Ponoka is dead following a collision between a car and a train on Monday afternoon.

It happened shortly before 3:44 p.m., when Ponoka RCMP were dispatched to the scene on Twp. 424 westbound toward Highway 2A.

Ponoka RCMP attended, as well as EMS, Fire and CP Rail Police.

The lone occupant of the car, a 26 year old woman from Ponoka, was declared deceased at the scene.

Ponoka RCMP are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact Ponoka RCMP at 403-783-4472.
