One of three people arrested in a central Alberta drug trafficking bust two years ago has been found guilty on several charges.

Emily Jean Herman, 22, was found guilty on eight of 16 counts in Red Deer provincial court last week and is due back in court Oct. 26.

Herman was found guilty on two counts of possession for purpose, possession of a controlled substance, two counts of careless use/storage of firearm, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of property over $5,000.

It was on July 12, 2019 when local Mounties revealed the results of a joint investigation where Red Deer RCMP and Sylvan Lake RCMP General Investigation Sections arrested three people and the seizure of drugs, cash, weapons, and three hand grenades.

Between June 18 and June 26 of that year, police conducted an investigation into a drug trafficking operation in both Red Deer and Sylvan Lake. On June 27, 2019, a search warrant was executed at a Sylvan Lake residence.

As a result of the search, officers seized 416 grams of methamphetamine, 17 grams of fentanyl, 1.5 grams of cocaine, three hand grenades, body armour, seven firearms, ammunition, and $25,528 in cash.

Herman’s co-accused, 33-year-old Dallas Anthony Griffin, is scheduled for trial Sept. 7-8 in Red Deer provincial court.

A third individual, Lincoln Capel of Red Deer, was also arrested during the search on outstanding warrants and charged with possession of a controlled substance and failing to comply with a recognizance.
