Jul 2, 2021 | 3:07 PM

Red Deer Polytechnic is adjusting its operations as the province moves to stage three of the Open for Summer plan.

Stage three kicked off July 1, and it means RDP students, employees and guests are no longer required to wear masks. However, they are encouraged to wear them, as well as maintain physical distancing of two metres from others, when possible.

Individuals arriving at RDP each day are required to check-in using the SAFE RDC App, and maintain good hygiene practices.

The summer term begins July 5, with in-person, online and blended instruction.

A diverse range of summer camps and workshops for youth and adults also begin soon, with information at rdc.ab.ca/summercamps.

Red Deer Polytechnic also offers various fitness and wellness services.

The Collicutt Performance Fitness Zone, Larkaun Homes Squash Courts, and Border Paving Running Track will be open the following hours:

• Monday to Friday: 6 am – 8 pm, Saturday and Sunday: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Three drop-in fitness classes will resume in early July:

Cycle: Tuesday, July 6 to Tuesday, August 24 (8 classes), class begins at 12 p.m.

Cycle: Wednesday, July 7 to Wednesday, August 25 (8 classes), class begins at 10 a.m.

Tabata: Thursday, July 8 to Thursday, August 26 (8 classes), class begins at 12 p.m.

Tabata is a high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workout that aims to produce the most benefits in a short amount of time.

Fitness Centre Members can register for these sessions at Guest Services in the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre, or by logging in to the Perfect Mind Portal up to one hour before the session begins. Drop-in classes are included with a membership, which can be purchased online.

Members, guests, students and employees will be expected to follow all of the Government of Alberta and Red Deer Polytechnic health and safety protocols on-campus.
