Red Deer down to 28 active COVID cases

Red Deer now has just 28 active cases of COVID-19.

That’s down 16 from last Thursday’s reported total of 44 and is the city’s lowest total since there were 27 active cases reported back on October 15.

Recoveries are listed at 5,689 as Red Deer added just one new COVID case over the last four days for a total of 5,758.

Red Deer’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 remains 41.

The entire Central Zone has 137 active cases as of Monday with 19 hospitalizations, including four receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital. The zone has had 166 deaths linked to the virus.

Over the past four days, AHS confirmed a combined 209 cases with 81 on Thursday, 64 on Friday, 33 on Saturday, and 31 on Sunday.

An average of 5,558 tests were conducted each day over the past four days.

Since Thursday’s update, two people from the Calgary Zone died from COVID, meaning 2,295 Albertans have now died as a result of the virus.

Provincially, 179 patients are currently hospitalized including 39 who have been admitted to intensive care.

4,198,463 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta as of the end of June 27. 71.7 percent of the 12+ population has received at least one dose (61% total population) and 38.6 percent of the 12+ population is now fully vaccinated (32.9% total population).

In Red Deer, 58,416 people have received at least one done while 35,313 are fully vaccinated.
