Increased Safety Expected

County successfully lobbies for reduced speed around Junction 42

Officials with Red Deer County were pleased to learn this week that Alberta Transportation has authorized an immediate speed reduction in the area of Junction 42 east of Penhold.

The reduced speed zone is along Highway 42 between Range Roads 273 and 275 and will see the speed limit lowered from 100 km/hr to 70 km/hr.

Additional signs advising motorists of the new speed limit in the area will also be installed off Highway 2 in the coming days.

County officials say this is a huge win for safety around Junction 42 and what Red Deer County and county councillors have long been lobbying for.
