Crews respond to Normandeau house fire

Investigators are looking into the cause of a house fire in Red Deer’s Normandeau neighbourhood on Wednesday.

Jon Evans, Assistant Deputy Chief with Red Deer Emergency Services, says crews were called out to a home on Nyman Crescent around 10:30 a.m. to reports of smoke and flames showing from the back of the home.

“We did our 360. Crews found fire showing on an addition in the southeast corner of the structure and set up and did an aggressive fire attack and knocked the fire down and contained it to the point of origin,” says Evans.

He notes a full complement of crews attended the scene, including 21 staff, RCMP, and ambulance.

“There were no extensions into anywhere in the house, so we’re just looking at investigating at this point,” adds Evans. “There were no injuries reported and no occupants at home at the time.”
