Fire destroys roof of home in Bower

Jun 21, 2021 | 10:08 AM

No one was injured when a home in the Bower neighbourhood caught fire Friday evening.

Red Deer Emergency Services was called just after 6 p.m. to the fire at the home on Barrett Drive.

Andrew Towers, a fire safety codes officer with Red Deer Emergency Services, says crews arrived to find large flames and heavy smoke coming from the roof of the house and were on scene for about four hours.

Towers says the apparent cause of the fire was cooking-related, adding that the attic was completely destroyed and one adjacent property suffered “extremely minor” damage.
