Riggers split with Sherwood Park to open season

The Red Deer Riggers earned a split with the Sherwood Park Athletics as the two teams kicked off the Sunburst Baseball League season this week.

The Riggers struck first Monday night with an exciting 4-2 extra innings win over the A’s in Sherwood Park. Jason Louis had three hits on the night while Mason Love-Hollman had a pair.

Josh Edwards got the start and threw three scoreless innings for the Riggers. Rookie Rees DeRuyter gave up four hits and two runs over four innings and ended up earning the victory.

Sherwood Park came back in a big way Tuesday night with a 13-7 win over the Riggers at Great Chief Park.
