Washroom at Gasoline Alley gas station up for Canada’s best

Jun 10, 2021 | 3:04 PM

A Gasoline Alley restroom is hoping to be named Canada’s number one.

The loo at Sweet Market Esso Station is up against competitors at Surrey Park, the Toronto Zoo, The Rooftop in Calgary, and Borden Park in Edmonton.

“The washrooms at Sweet Market Esso boast decorative high-end tiles and five-star finishes, giving the restrooms a classy feel, mimicking a fancy hotel suite in Italy rather than a convenience store restroom,” says a release from Cintas Canada, which runs the annual contest.

“These washrooms are always a topic of customer conversation in the store where selfies take center stage. The constant comments regarding the awe of it all – plus the extreme cleanliness – are great reminders of the sheer elegance and grandeur these restrooms provide for the customer.”

The winner receives $2,500 in facility services from Cintas.

Alberta has done well in this contest historically, with last year’s winner being the Wetaskiwin RV Park. In 2019 it was the Beaverhill Shell in Lac La Biche, 2018 went to St. Albert Honda and in 2016 the Esso Super Station in Whitecourt took home the title.
