Red Deer down to 176 active COVID cases

Red Deer is down to 176 active cases of COVID-19 as of Monday, according to the latest numbers from the province. It’s a decrease of four active cases from Sunday.

Recoveries are up 11 to 5,461 as the total number of COVID-19 cases attributed to Red Deer rose seven to 5,677.

Red Deer’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 remains 40.

55,270 Red Deerians have been vaccinated for COVID-19 as of Sunday, including 15,236 who are fully vaccinated with two doses.

The Central Zone as a whole has 599 active cases as of Monday and 37 hospitalizations, including eight receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital. The Central Zone has had 159 deaths linked to COVID-19, including one reported in the past 24 hours – a man in his 40s who passed away June 5.

Across Alberta another 127 cases of COVID-19 were announced Monday out of 4,027 test results for a positivity rate of 3.2 per cent.

Active cases across the province are down to 4,707.

There are 351 Albertans hospitalized due to the virus, including 94 in intensive care.

Two new deaths linked to COVID-19 were reported in the past day to bring the province’s total to 2,248.

As of June 6, 3,084,119 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in Alberta. That equates to 66.7 percent of the population aged 12 and over that has received at least one dose of vaccine (56.8 per cent of the total population).

529,502 Albertans are fully vaccinated with two doses (14.3 percent of those aged 12 and over, 12.2 per cent of the total population).
