Alberta surpasses 3 million doses of vaccine administered

Red Deer’s active COVID-19 case count is down another nine to 203 in the last day.

After hitting a record high active caseload of 911 on May 8 (28 days ago), the active caseload has dropped all but one day, including 32.5 per cent over the past seven days.

Recoveries sit at 5,426, an increase of 27 over the last day as the total number of cases attributed to Red Deer rose by 18 to 5,669. The number of deaths in Red Deer linked to COVID-19 is 40, with the last one reported May 31.

In the past week, the city has added just 91 cases, with 188 recoveries, and one death.

According to the province’s interactive vaccination map, 55,035 Red Deer residents have received at least one dose of vaccine, up 287 in the last day. That includes 14,420 people who are fully vaccinated, an increase in the last day of 1,071.

Last Saturday, 53,136 Red Deer residents had at least one dose, and 8,164 were fully vaccinated.

The Central Zone has 664 active cases of Saturday, a drop of 49. There are
42 hospitalizations, down three, and 11 people are receiving intensive care for COVID-19 at Red Deer Regional Hospital, the same as yesterday. The zone has had 158 deaths, with none reported today.

Over the last seven days, Central Zone’s active caseload has gone down 338 from 1,002.

Hospitalizations have gone from 55 to 42, while the number of patients in ICU at Red Deer Regional went from 14 to 11.

PROVINCE

Province-wide, Alberta confirmed 293 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday. That’s out of 6,843 test results for a positivity rate of ~4.3 per cent.

Active cases in the province total 5,071, down 344 in the last 24 hours. Recoveries are up to 221,644, with a total of 228,961 confirmed cases in Alberta since the pandemic began.

There are 373 Albertans in hospital due to COVID-19, down six from Friday, including 105 in intensive care, down three.

Three additional deaths linked to COVID-19 were reported to Alberta Health in the last 24 hours to bring the province’s total to 2,246. The latest deaths include:

· Date of death: June 2nd, 2021. A MALE in his 60s in NORTH zone. The case included comorbidities.

· Date of death: June 2nd, 2021. A FEMALE in her 70s in EDMONTON zone. The case included comorbidities.

· Date of death: June 4th, 2021. A MALE in his 70s in EDMONTON zone. The case included comorbidities.

Alberta has administered 3,013,555 doses of COVID-19 vaccine as of June 4, up more than 61,000 in the last day. 66 per cent of the eligible population (ages 12+) has received at least one dose, while 13.2 cent is fully vaccinated. More vaccination data is here.

In the last week, Alberta has administered 292,868 doses of vaccine for a daily average of 41,838 over the last week, up over 4,000 from last week’s average.
