Rocky RCMP Report May 13-27

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of May 13-27

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

May 13

5:39 A.M. – Report of a black 2003 Chevrolet pickup truck stolen from a residence in RMH overnight. It has since been recovered.

6:51 A.M. – 911 call of an attempted robbery with a firearm on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. Under investigation.

8:53 A.M. – Attempted theft of a 2002 FORD SUV from a residence in RMH overnight. The back window was smashed and the ignition was damaged. The suspects fled in a white SUV.

10:50 A.M. – Report of gates rammed by a vehicle at a location in Clearwater County on Range Road 6-3 near Twp Rd 42-1.

12:37 P.M. – Report of a truck stolen from a residence in RMH. It was located burnt in Rimbey.

6:35 P.M. – An adult male was arrested by police on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve after it was determined he was breaching previous release conditions. He resisted arrest and drugs were located upon being searched. Further charges have been laid. The individual was released after a Judicial Interim Release (JIR) hearing and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

May 14

2:03 P.M. – Complaint of shots fired at a residence on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. Under investigation.

4:26 P.M. – Report of a B&E to a residence in RMH. Nothing stolen.

May 15

7:35 A.M. – Report of a B&E and theft of an electric scooter from a residence in RMH. Under investigation.

11:58 A.M. – An intoxicated adult male was arrested for breaching a previous court order and for “impaired driving” of an ATV at a campsite west of RMH. He was held on cash bail after a JIR Hearing. Provincial Sanctions were issued.

2:05 P.M. – Complaint of harassing communications via texts from a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Under investigation.

2:09 P.M. – Trailer reported broken into at a compound in the RMH industrial area.

May 16

3:38 P.M. – Complaint of an adult male entering a RMH convenience store and not willing to put a mask on after requested to do so. The male swore and spat on the floor before walking out.

11:56 P.M. – Report of a mini-van stuck in the ditch in RMH. Two males were seen fleeing the scene. The vehicle was suspected in a number of attempted B&E’s west of RMH. Red Deer Police Dog Services attended but were unable to locate the individuals. The vehicle was towed.

May 17

2:04 P.M. – Complaint of a male being extorted for money after he sent an explicit picture of himself. An unknown individual was threatening to release the photo on-line unless money was received.

7:58 P.M. – 911 call of a theft of 4 bottles of whiskey from a RMH liquor store. Two young adult males fled the store.

May 18

9:48 A.M. – Theft of a white 1987 ROYAL Utility trailer from the Evergreen Community Hall.

6:10 P.M. – The RMH Crime Reduction Unit stopped a suspicious vehicle just outside of RMH and arrested the adult female driver for breaching previous release conditions stemming from recent drug trafficking charges. An adult female passenger was arrested on outstanding warrants. Cocaine, heroine, methamphetamine, and other drugs were located. Further drug trafficking charges were laid against both individuals. After a JIR Hearing, the driver was remanded into custody until a future court date in Red Deer while the passenger was released on a “Promise To Pay”.

May 19

1:09 A.M. – A suspicious vehicle was stopped by officers in RMH. As a result of the investigation, meth & cocaine were seized. Drug Trafficking charges are pending against two adult males from RMH. After a JIR Hearing, one was remanded into custody until another court date while the other individual was released on $100 cash bail.

2:48 A.M. – Theft of a white 2017 DODGE Journey from a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. It was later reported found burnt in the lagoon.

7:43 A.M. – Attempted theft of a FORD F350 from a residence in RMH. The door lock was “punched out” and the ignition damaged.

10:46 A.M. – Theft of a FORD Escape from a residence on the Big Horn First Nations Reserve. Reports received of this vehicle driving erratically on Hwy #11 in the Nordegg area. Police located the vehicle and arrested an adult male. Charges are pending.

2:50 P.M. – Theft of a blue 2015 YAMAHA YZ250 from a residence on Range Road 8-2 near Twp Rd 37-5, Clearwater County.

2:29 P.M. – Report of tires slashed and a rock thrown through a window of a RV travel trailer while parked near the Strachan Gas Plant on SecHwy #752.

3:15 P.M. – Call of a young male & female on BMX bikes stealing amazon boxes from doorsteps in RMH.

3:14 P.M. – Attempted theft of a propane tank from a RMH department store.

May 20

9:15 A.M. – Diesel fuel stolen and ignition damaged on backhoe while parked at gravel pit, west of Caroline.

2:31 P.M. – Report of a B&E to the Nordegg Hotel overnight. A wood splitter was stolen.

May 21

2:10 A.M. – Complaint of an assault with bear spray at a campsite in the Abraham Lake area. Police attended and arrested one intoxicated adult male. Charges are pending.

12:10 P.M. – Report of a theft of a Black Angus calf from a farm in Clearwater County.

3:53 P.M. – Complaint of two shoplifters at a RMH department store. When confronted, after the door alarm went off, they gave the items back and fled on their BMX bikes.

May 22

1:40 A.M. – Complaint of a dirt bike riding through a campsite and spraying gravel in the Ricinus area, west of Caroline.

11:34 A.M. – Report of an assault at a residence in RMH. An adult male was arrested by police and was released on a “Promise To Pay” after a JIR Hearing with no cash bail.

6:57 P.M. – Complaint of gun shots and Tannerite being used at a Clearwater County residence.

7:19 P.M. – Complaint of OHV’s tearing up rural property on Range Road 5-5 Clearwater County.

11:31 P.M. – Call of an assault which occurred on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. Under investigation. Charges pending.

May 23

6:15 P.M. – Call of a suspicious male on SecHwy #734 (Forestry Trunk Road), claiming to other campers that he was wanted by police. Officers attended and arrested the individual who was in possession of a loaded firearm. He was released on a $2000 Promise To Pay document after a JIR Hearing.

9:08 P.M. – Report of a Break & Enter & vandalism to a shop on Range Road 40-2 in the Leslieville area.

May 25

7:51 P.M. – Call of an intoxicated individual at the RMH hospital who was belligerent & disorderly. He was arrested and released after sobering up.

May 26

1:06 P.M. – RMH Crime Reduction Unit arrested two individuals, who were in possession of methamphetamine and were breaching previous release conditions, at a rural property southeast of RMH. A stolen motorcycle from Yellowhead County was recovered on the property. Both were released on a “Promise To Pay” after a JIR Hearing and are required to appear in provincial court at a later date. The investigation is continuing.

2:21 P.M. – Complaint of fraud after a RMH resident tried to invest in crypto currency by sending money but has not heard back.

2:41 P.M. – 911 call of a disturbance at a RMH residence. Police attended and arrested a highly intoxicated adult male who was later released, without charges, after sobering up.

7:11 P.M. – Complaint from a Sunchild First Nations resident advising of threats received via texts. Under investigation.

May 27

3:17 A.M. – Police arrested an Impaired Driver on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. The adult female refused to provide breath samples. Provincial sanctions were issued including a $1,000 fine for a first offence. The vehicle was seized for 30 days.

8:35 A.M. – Report of a scooter stolen after being left outside for a brief time at a local bank.

10:00 A.M. – Report of an incident, which occurred last Saturday afternoon, of a suspicious adult male in a vehicle in the downtown area of RMH. The male approached a young teenage female, asking for her phone # and a hug. Under investigation.

10:35 P.M. – While on patrol on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve, an officer observed a vehicle driving at an excessive rate of speed and “fish tailing” into the oncoming lane. The driver ditched the vehicle and fled on foot into the woods. An adult male was located and arrested. Charges are pending. The vehicle was towed.
