Police incident in Highland Green

UPDATE (6:50 P.M.) Red Deer RCMP say the police incident has now ended safely. Residents are free to leave their homes.

A further release on this incident is anticipated tomorrow.

Red Deer RCMP continue to respond to an incident unfolding in the Highland Green area.

A media release just after 4:30 p.m. said City Mounties were on scene at Hepworth Close.

“Although the situation is currently contained, police are asking everyone to avoid Hepworth Close,” the release said. “If you are residing in the area, stay inside unless advised otherwise by police.”

RCMP are also asking that residents not post photographs of police on social media during this incident.
