Premier Kenney, Dr. Hinshaw to update Albertans about COVID-19

Premier Jason Kenney will be joining Alberta’s chief medical officer of health to deliver today’s update on the COVID-19 situation in the province.

Kenney and Dr. Deena Hinshaw will speak at a news conference scheduled for 1 p.m. Dr. Verna Yiu, president and CEO of Alberta Health Services, is also expected to speak at the update.

Today’s update comes as case rates in Alberta are on the decline but remain the highest in the country.

Another 1,140 cases of COVID-19 were reported Sunday out of 11,858 for a positivity rate of about 9.5 per cent. The province has 22,280 active cases.

Red Deer had 703 active cases as of Sunday, a 23 per cent drop from the record 911 active cases from May 8.
