Rocky RCMP Report: April 30- May 6

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of April 30- May 6

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

April 30

2:25 A.M. – Call of a stolen ATV taken from a residence on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve.

7:44 A.M. – Report of a male cutting the ends of hoses and stealing maintenance equipment at the RMH ball diamonds. Police located and arrested an adult male.

8:01 A.M. – Report of an 8’x12’ office trailer stolen from an oil lease site on the Northfork Road in Clearwater County. Valued at $40,000.

11:07 A.M. – Theft of 4 catalytic converters from a RMH tow yard.

7:00 P.M. – Call of a fight at a residence in Clearwater County. Police attended and determined it to be a consensual fight between the two males, one of whom was arrested on an outstanding warrant.

7:13 P.M. – 911 call of a possible impaired driver on Range Road 6-3, Clearwater County. The adult male driver was arrested after blowing a “Fail” on the alcohol-screening device. Immediate provincial roadside sanctions were issued along with the vehicle being seized.

May 1

00:15 A.M. – The RMH Crime Reduction Unit conducted a curfew check on an adult male who is supposed to be abiding by previous release conditions. It was determined that he was breaching these conditions by not residing at the specific address required. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

12:37 P.M. – Call of a male who pointed a firearm at another individual and stole his quad on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Under investigation.

1:00 P.M. – Report of a B&E to a residence in Clearwater County. Police attended and arrested an adult male. A Judicial Interim Release hearing was held. He was released with conditions and is to appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

3:44 P.M. – A black case containing a scale, baggies, and a substance believed to be Meth, was found by an individual while cleaning the ditch on Hwy #11. The items were turned into the RCMP for destruction.

5:07 P.M. – Call of an intoxicated male banging on the door of a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Police attended and arrested the individual on an outstanding warrant.

May 2

9:39 P.M. – Call of a male who had been bear sprayed at a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Police attended but the victim refused to speak to police and cursed at the officers to leave his residence. No further investigation.

May 3

11:05 A.M. – Report of an assault on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Under investigation.

12:14 P.M. – Report of a shoplifter at a RMH department store. Under investigation.

6:58 P.M. – Complaint of a suspicious vehicle spotted in the Caroline area, pulling a stolen fully enclosed office trailer. The suspect vehicle and trailer were located by the RMH Crime Reduction Unit, near the James River Road. The suspect vehicle had unhitched the trailer and was sitting on the side of the road with the lights off. When the police approached and activated the emergency lights, the suspect fled off road, through a river, and then down a lease road. The officer followed the fresh tracks. The suspect vehicle travelled at a high rate of speed down a number of township, range, and lease roads. The suspect drove through stop signs and at one point into the oncoming lane at another fully marked police vehicle. A “spike belt” was utilized to disable the vehicle tires and it eventually came to a stop on a bridge over Prairie Creek. The suspect tried to run away into the woods but was apprehended a short time later. The adult male, well known to police, is facing a number of charges. A Judicial Interim Release hearing will be held.

May 4

6:55 A.M. – Call of a male passed out in a suspicious vehicle halfway in the ditch on Twp Rd 40-5A and Hwy #22. Police attended the located and arrested the individual who had an outstanding warrant.

8:21 P.M. – Complaint of a smashed window at a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve.

May 5

10:18 A.M. – Report of a chain link fence and locks cut off buildings at a lease site in Clearwater County.

May 6

1:49 P.M. – Rock thrown through window of RCMP Satellite office on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve

2:24 P.M. – Report of an assault on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Under investigation

3:02 P.M. – Gate smashed at a rural property in Clearwater County.
