Pool reopening a splash hit

Rocky’s Aquatic Centre has been a splash hit since its reopening on April 20.

Current operating hours are Tuesday to Friday, noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. No drop-ins are permitted at this time.

The pool can be rented for stroke improvement, private lessons and household rentals. You can choose to rent just the leisure the pool, the main pool or both for a 45-minute session. The rental is available only for members of the same household and can only be rented once per day and three times a week. The hot tub is available to those booking the facility.

People have been having to book up to three weeks in advance for either the leisure pool or main pool due to residents desire to go swimming, according to town officials.

The pool currently has just two staff members on with limited hours from noon to 8 p.m. weekdays, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m on Saturday. Residents are asked to email or leave a message to book their spot.

Director of Recreation & Community Services for the Town of Rocky Mountain House, Wes Amendt, noted that they have been receiving a lot of positive comments back about the pool being open.

He mentioned they are still evaluating how these first weeks go before making any decisions of adding additional staff and increased hours of operations.
