Grade 1 students raise over $800 for humane society
As part of their social justice project, Grade 1 students at St. Martin de Porres School raised approximately $815 for the Central Alberta Humane Society. This charity was near and dear to students’ hearts, as many have rescued pets and wanted to help an organization that supports animal welfare.
Students raised these funds by creating mask straps and selling them for people to use to hold their masks. The mask straps were made out of beautifully patterned ribbon, including paw prints and cats. The students were involved in every step of the project, including cutting ribbon, organizing snaps and selling to eager buyers. This was extremely well done, as the students were practicing COVID-19 safe measures throughout the project.
“The students in 1K are so very proud of themselves for helping out animals in need,” said Teacher, Marie Krushelnicki at St. Martin de Porres School.
“We as a school community are so proud of our Grade 1 students for the time, effort and energy they committed in taking action to show their love and compassion for animals,” said Principal, Dorice de Champlain at St. Martin de Porres School.
