Drayton Valley RCMP Report: April 15 – April 21

April 15

9:07 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported ongoing issues with an acquaintance saying unkind things about her and her partner for several months, requesting the suspect be spoken to. Under investigation.

10:10 am – Brazeau County – Cynthia area – Property rep from an oilfield company reported theft of wire and major damage to a lease site, occurred over the past couple of weeks.

12:15 pm – Drayton Valley – Frank Maddock area – Complainant requesting patrols due to ongoing various issues caused when students come and go from the school and drive in a manner not taught in any driving manual.

2:11 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male driver failed to pay for his fuel. Member investigated and determined an agreement had been made between the parties making it no longer possible to charge the male.

7:34 pm – Drayton Valley – 43 Ave – Complainant reported daughter living with “unsavory” character and wanted to enquire about restraining order so he was unable to come to their residence. Member advised she would have to discuss this with her daughter and utilize proper channels to evict the male from their residence.

8:01 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a male attempting to break in next door. Suspect took off on a bike with two bags of bottles. Member attended, suspect not located, no entry gained.

8:40 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported an erratic driver last seen pulling into 7/11. Members located the vehicle and driver but the driver became hostile and non-cooperative. A supervisor attended and was able to calm the situation. Members determined the complaint had been dispatched somewhat inaccurately and no tickets were issued.

10:47 pm – Parkland County – RR 62 – Complainant reported a break and enter in progress at a cell tower site. Older model truck parked by the gate, male trying to gain entry. Member attended, site secure. Complainant later called back to advise the site owner confirmed it was a company employee.

10:49 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male had stolen some copper wire from a business. Members located the suspect nearby and arrested him. After investigation, the matter was dealt with via a Trespass ticket.

10:54 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported neighbours being noisy, suspected they were socializing against current restrictions. When member attended, the suspects were on a balcony and went inside and turned off the lights. Complainant did not want police to enter and door knock.

April 16

8:06 am – Drayton Valley – File opened for service of Emergency Protection Order. Order served.

8:30 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/48 St – Complainant reported that while walking her daughter a male approached and offered to pay her $15 to walk her toddler. The suspect male was located and stated that he said “you got 15 blocks to go”. The male was a bit difficult to understand and his version was plausible.

9:38 am – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reported letting his ex stay overnight and that she is now refusing to leave. Members attended and coaxed the uncooperative female to leave as requested.

9:42 am – Drayton Valley – Town employee reported being verbally attacked by a resident while doing her job, requested police speak to the female involved. Member spoke to the other party later in the day and advised her on using proper channels to express any concerns she has.

10:31 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended to report a minor collision that occurred in a drive thru.

11:20 am – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Complainant reported an agitated male, screaming and holding something in his hand. Member attended and located the male who is well known to police. The male was calm and cooperative at the time he was located.

11:25 am – Brazeau County – RR 85 – Complainant reports her camper was parked in a business yard and it appears a window was shot with a pellet gun. Under investigation.

11:49 am – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Open line 911. No emergency, misdial only.

12:44 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported her ex had come by her apartment and after an argument slashed her tires. Members investigated, appeared that one tire had been deflated, possibly via the valve stem. The male was subsequently arrested and charged with mischief.

1:32 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant attended the detachment to report her truck stolen on April 8. Truck had already been recovered near Red Deer.

1:55 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member attended for a report of a structure fire in a restaurant. On arrival the fire was out, had been contained to an overheated fan.

3:09 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported that while performing some maintenance, finding something akin to skin in a sewer drain from a business. Under investigation to determine what the item may be.

4:02 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a breach of a no-contact order. Member investigated, no breach due to it being the complainant who is on conditions and no contact had been initiated by him.

4:11 pm – Parkland County – Twp Rd 514 – Complainant reported smoke visible near RR 64, Fire Dept also advised. Member attended, fire department already on scene extinguishing a ground-based fire likely started by old burn piles re-kindling.

4:57 pm – Drayton Valley – Members responded to a sudden death. Not suspicious, medical examiner investigating further.

5:28 pm – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported an erratic driver, now pulled over across from the County office. Member attended and determined the cause to be a nervous new driver.

5:53 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Complainant reported a truck and trailer blocking his driveway. Member attended, truck and trailer gone.

7:48 pm – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reported loud music from a neighbour’s residence. Member attended and the music aficionado agreed to turn it down.

9:28 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Complainant reported his ex knocking on his door and he wants her to leave. Members attended and found that the ex was gone and the complainant appeared to be playing hide and seek with the police, likely due to his having several “pay or stay” traffic warrants.

10:01 pm – Brazeau County – Assistance request from police in the USA to complete next of kin notification for a male deceased in their area. Notification completed.

10:14 pm – Drayton Valley – Anonymous complaint of possible drug activity. Patrols were made, suspect vehicle not identified.

April 17

12:01 am – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Complainant reported vehicles stunting in the parking lot. Member attended but no vehicles were left in the area.

2:57 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member on patrol ran a license plate, determined it didn’t match the vehicle. Driver was found to be prohibited. The driver was ticketed and the truck was impounded for 60 days.

12:10 pm – Brazeau County – RR 81 – Report of a trespasser at the gravel pit. Gate was broken and the suspects accessed the river. Members made patrols but no one was located. Lock on the gate was cut off. Under investigation.

12:45 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 494 – Alarm at Brazeau County office, alarm was cancelled.

3:16 pm – Drayton Valley – 43 St – 911 call from residence, members attended and determined that it was an accidental dial.

3:40 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 494 – Report of a suspicious vehicle parked, members attended the area and discovered that the owner of the vehicle was just taking his dogs for a walk.

3:53 pm – Brazeau County – Lodgepole – Peace Officer requesting assistance with a traffic stop. Male driver of a vehicle has a warrant for his arrest out of Parkland RCMP. Member attended and arrested the male who was held for a hearing and released by a Justice of the Peace on $50 bail.

4:23 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Report of an erratic driver passing when unsafe. Members made patrols of the area but were unable to locate the vehicle. Vehicle was later stopped by Edson RCMP going 200 km in a 110 km zone. Driver issued a violation ticket by Drayton Valley RCMP for passing when unsafe.

5:11 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Report of a missing female from the Shangri La Lodge. Female was located at a friend’s residence, member attended and drove the female back to the lodge.

5:30 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 502 – 911 hang up. Member spoke to the complainant who was complaining about her neighbour. Matter was determined to be a civil issue.

6:27 pm – Drayton Valley – 48 Ave – Report of harassment, complainant advises that a former landlord was yelling at her that she owes him money. Civil landlord-tenant issue.

April 18

2:42 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Report of 10 people fighting in front of a residence. Members attended but there was no one around. Complainant advised that they left in a vehicle.

9:52 am – Brazeau County – Lodgepole – Report of a break and enter to a foreclosed residence. Members attended location and found a male inside the residence. Male was arrested and charged with break and enter.

10:06 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Report of possible gunshot heard. Members made patrols of the area but were unable to locate anyone.

10:20 am – Yellowhead County – Report of vandalism to an oilfield site. Power line was pulled down and electrical items were stolen. $50,000 worth of damage to the site.

11:05 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Report of a suspicious vehicle parked on the side of the highway. Member attended location but vehicle was already gone.

1:29 pm – Brazeau County – Lodgepole – Report of an abandoned vehicle. Member attended, vehicle had a smashed window and licence plate did not match the vehicle. Registered owner contacted.

7:16 pm – Drayton Valley – Centre Court – Request for a restraining order for complainant’s mother. Complainant advises that his older brother is verbally abusive towards his mother.

9:22 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Ave – Report of a male trespassing. Member attended location, complainant advised the male left on his own. No crime occurred.

11:17 pm – Brazeau County – West Canal Campground – Report that two males stole a backpack from the complainant’s unlocked car. The two males took off in a silver car, no licence plate obtained.

April 19

9:52 am – Drayton Valley – Madsen Avenue – Theft of licence plate. Complainant had their licence plate stolen from their car.

11:00 am – Drayton Valley – Report of uttering threats. Complainant advised that he has been receiving texts from a male that thinks he is sleeping with his wife. Member spoke to both parties and determined that no criminal offence has occurred.

11:18 am – Brazeau County – Report of an abandoned vehicle on a lease site. Members attended the location but the vehicle was already gone.

12:21 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 504 – Report of a suspicious vehicle. Complainant thinks it is his girlfriend’s ex. Members patrolled the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

12:34 pm – Drayton Valley – 911 hang up from a business. Employee advised that she was trying to dial 811 but dialed 911 by mistake.

2:20 pm – Drayton Valley – Smoker Corner – MVC hit and run. Vehicle hit the driver side door of complainant’s car. No suspects, no witnesses.

6:20 pm – Drayton Valley – 20 Avenue – Report of shoplifting from the Beer Locker. Female stole two bottles of liquor. Vehicle description and licence plate provided. Members patrolling the area located the vehicle. Traffic stop attempted but the vehicle fled from police. Evansburg RCMP located vehicle and attempted traffic stop. Vehicle again fled from police but then hit the ditch. Male driver arrested and charged.

6:26 pm – Drayton Valley – 39 Ave – Report of a suspicious vehicle. Vehicle described as an old Pathfinder. Members patrolled the area but were unable to locate the vehicle.

7:11 pm – Drayton Valley – 22 Ave – Report of three suspicious youths that appear to be throwing their shoes onto the roof. Members patrolled the area but were unable to locate any youths.

8:54 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Report that a silver SUV was tailgating the complainant then cut them off, almost causing an accident. Licence plate number provided but did not match any vehicle.

10:14 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Report of suspicious vehicle hanging around the back alley. The complainant hit the panic alarm on his vehicle causing the alarm to go off. The vehicle left the area. Members patrolled the area.

April 20

9:09 am – Brazeau County – Report of a theft from an electrical site. Power lines stolen from the location.

5:14 pm – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Report of a suspicious male in the complainant’s neighbour’s yard. Complainant advised that earlier in the morning someone stole his bird feeder. Member made patrols but was unable to locate male.

6:34 pm – Drayton Valley – Walmart – Report of an unwanted male at Walmart and refusing to leave. Member attended the location and identified the male as a regular homeless man. Male left the location with no issues.

7:50 pm – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reports neighbour was having a campfire. No campfires allowed in the trailer court. Member attended the location and the fire was extinguished. Member talked to the female at the residence about having campfires. No offence.

11:20 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Noise complaint. Complainant advised that her neighbour was making too much noise. Members attended the location and told the neighbour to quiet down. No further issues.

April 21

10:04 am – Brazeau County – Report of a theft from an oilfield site. Portable pump stolen from the site. No witnesses, no suspects.

2:25 pm – Drayton Valley – 47A Ave – 911 hang up. Residents have to dial 9 to call out, resident accidentally hit the 1 twice. No emergency.

2:23 pm – Brazeau County – Report that the complainant’s neighbour is harassing her. Neighbour was yelling at her while she was closing her gate. No criminal offence, ongoing neighbour dispute.

3:36 pm – Drayton Valley – Report that complainant’s licence plate has been stolen from her vehicle.

6:16 pm – Drayton Valley – Walmart – Report from an employee that they found a small baggie with white crystals in it. Member attended location and seized the baggie of meth. No suspect.

7:36 pm – Drayton Valley – Members responded to assist paramedics with a sudden death. Death not suspicious, investigation turned over to medical examiner.
