A man from Hanna is facing drug charges following an arrest in Drumheller Wednesday night.

Mounties say Drumheller RCMP and the Drumheller Crime Reduction Unit were on patrol when they identified a male they knew and recognized who was in breach of a court order.

Michael Farmer, 39, was arrested for failing to comply with his release conditions. Incidental to arrest, police located what is believed to be methamphetamine, psilocybin (magic mushrooms), fentanyl, and proceeds of crime.

Farmer was charged with three counts for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and for failing to comply with his undertaking.

At the time of his arrest, Farmer was on release conditions for similar offences.

Farmer was held for a Judicial Interim Release hearing and was released to appear on Apr. 23 in Drumheller provincial court.

Drumheller residents who suspect illicit drug activity in the community are encouraged to contact Drumheller RCMP at 403-823-2630 or your local police.
