Brazeau County has received grant funding to use for a Mountain Pine Beetle program.

After a grant application and approval, the county is receiving $61,795, and the funds will be used for communications and outreach, surveys, control and treatment, quality control checks, prevention, and project management.

Year one of the program will focus on municipal lands in areas known to have active Mountain Pine Beetle infestations.

Brazeau County says survey and control work began this month with a completion target sometime in May. Quality control checks will then be done to verify the surveyor’s work, and the entire project is expected to be wrapped up in the field by June 30, 2021.
