Delia, a small village northeast of Drumheller, is hoping whoever took Morgan the Unicorn will return the beloved statue in one piece.

RCMP say it was around 10:20 on the morning of April 16 when they received a report of a stolen unicorn statue.

The stainless steel unicorn is a well-known landmark in the community and stands 11 feet high. It also weighs about 600 pounds and is valued at $10,000.

Between 1 and 5:30 a.m., police say, it’s believed a vehicle was driven to Delia where suspects loaded the steel statue into the box of a large utility truck.

The next day at around 9 a.m., the missing statue was located in a field 15 kilometres away in Starland County.

RCMP have not identified any suspects. However, the statue now looks rather equine as it was found with its bronze-coloured horn broken off following the theft.
