Carstairs man wins $100,000 in LOTTO MAX draw

Ever buy a lottery ticket then check to see if you won anything, only to find out you won $100,000?

Well you likely won’t wait months to check that ticket after you read this story, as this happened to Kelly Weir of Carstairs when he stopped by a Calgary grocery store to check his LOTTO MAX ticket from February 19, only to discover that he was $100,000 richer.

“I was pretty excited,” said Weir, in a press release.

Wier recalled finding out about his windfall after using the store’s ticket checker before passing his ticket to the clerk, who confirmed he did win.

Weir purchased his winning LOTTO MAX and EXTRA ticket at Fas Gas Plus, located at 802 E Centre Street in Carstairs, the morning before the draw. He won his EXTRA prize as well, simply by matching the last six digits of the EXTRA number. He won $20 in subsidiary prizes.

When asked what he planned to do with the money, Wier had this to say, “I’m going to pay off my vehicle,” he said. “I’m also looking into buying a house, so this will make a great down-payment.”
