School ice cream sandwich program donation to Blackfalds school

We sure missed interacting with the kids at school, but we still soaked in plenty of smiles from those who had the opportunity to dine in and enjoy our teams’ latest ice cream sandwich creation in support of Iron Ridge Intermediate Campus in Blackfalds.

Under our School Ice Cream Sandwich Program, every three months we select a local school to benefit from ice cream sandwich sales, kicking back $1 of every sandwich sold to a program or project that could use a boost at the school.

Our latest creation was the “Super Hero” ice cream sandwich, it included strawberry, banana, blueberry ice cream nestled in-between two house baked double chocolate cookies, and a house-made bubble gum whipped cream!

$1 from every ice cream sandwich sold is supporting the Nutrition Program at Iron Ridge Intermediate Campus.

Under the Nutrition Program, every week fresh fruits are delivered to classrooms providing an alternative for students at snack time or lunchtime or whenever they are hungry. It helps the school infuse healthy alternatives and build those healthy eating habits in kids.

Iron Ridge also has a staff member who prepares different types of food for students to sample and sends the recipes home for families to try. Recently a tower garden was also set up for the nutrition program to utilize.

Typically, we would host a pop-up ice cream sandwich sale at the school, utilizing students to serve up those tasty sandwiches to their peers. Unfortunately, COVID restrictions meant we could not execute the pop-up this time around, but we sure hope to get back to doing them again soon!

Regardless we are THRILLED to support Iron Ridge Intermediate Campus and their Nutrition Program, handing over a cheque for $448 on April 8.

Stay tuned, we’re gearing up to also kick off this program at our new Red Deer location, allowing us to support even more local schools who are all working hard to educate our future community leaders!
