Rocky RCMP Report April 2-8

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of April 2- 8, 2021

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

April 2

9:12 A.M. – Report of an ATV collision on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. The driver was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

2:49 P.M. – Report of fraud after a RMH resident sent an E-Transfers to an unknown person on Facebook Marketplace for a vehicle accessory. When the buyer went to pick up the item in Canmore, the seller did not show up and closed his Facebook account.

3:57 P.M. – Theft of gas from a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve.

8:40 P.M. – Report of a B&E to a residence in RMH. Police attended and arrested an adult male. He was remanded into custody after a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.

April 3

1:32 A.M. – Call of an intoxicated individual at the RMH hospital causing problems and drinking hand sanitizer. Police attended and arrested the male who was released after sobering up.

3:07 A.M. – 911 call of a white BMX bike stolen from a residence in RMH.

8:25 A.M. – Abandoned, damaged vehicle on Hwy #11, 6 km west of RMH. Police attended and determined that the truck had been stolen from a residence in RMH.

9:30 A.M. – Report of an attempted theft of a vehicle overnight at a residence in RMH. The ignition and steering column were damaged.

11:26 A.M. – B&E to 18 storage units overnight at a RMH mini-storage facility.

6:11 P.M. – Damage and theft from vehicles reported at an acreage on Hwy #22, south of RMH.

7:34 P.M. – Call of a possible “Impaired Driver” in Clearwater County, east of RMH. Police located the vehicle and the driver who was highly intoxicated. There were 2 scared children in the vehicle. The adult female driver was subsequently arrested and charges are pending.

10:28 P.M. – Report of a suspicious vehicle on Twp Rd 38-4 near Range Road 5-0, Clearwater County. Police followed the tracks of the vehicle which had been doing donuts at the intersections on the gravel road. It was located and the driver was arrested after blowing a “Fail” on the alcohol screening device. Firearms and ammo were located in the vehicle. An adult male is facing charges including for “Unlawful Possession of firearms” and “Unsafe storage of Firearms.”

11:31 P.M. – Report of a noisy party at a residence in RMH. Police attended and found a number of people gathered around a bonfire with loud music. The individuals were given a warning and later departed.

April 4

00:01 A.M. – Attempted theft of a dirtbike from the back of a truck at a residence in RMH.

8:08 A.M. – Report of an abandoned vehicle on SecHwy #752. Police attended and determined that the truck had been stolen after the owner was contacted. He came and picked up his truck.

10:43 A.M. – VW car stolen overnight from residence on Twp Rd 38-0 near Range Road 85-0, Clearwater County. The vehicle was recovered the following evening after a neighbour located it while quadding in the area.

6:25 P.M. – License plate stolen off vehicle at residence on Sunchild First Nations Reserve.

8:47 P.M. – The First Nations Crime Reduction Unit observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. The vehicle failed to stop when police tried to pull it over. It was located at a residence where the driver was identified. He was issued a number of violation tickets. The vehicle was towed.

11:31 P.M. – Report of a B&E to a residence on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. A window was broken and the front door was open. Under investigation.

April 5

7:19 A.M. – Report of a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, which had been reported stolen overnight from a residence in Red Deer, was now at the junction of Hwy #22 & #11 according to OnStar. After further updates the vehicle was located abandoned behind an apartment complex in RMH. Under Investigation.

11:23 A.M. – Green PONTIAC G6 stolen from residence on O’Chiese First Nations Reserve overnight.

7:05 P.M. – Red gooseneck trailer reported abandoned on a rural property on SecHwy #598, Clearwater County. The investigation revealed that it had been stolen from the Brooks area January 3, of this year. A truck that had been stolen at the same time which was recovered in the Breton area 1 week ago.

April 7

9:31 A.M. – Vandalism reported to a transformer and pole in Clearwater County. Wire was stolen from the site. $6,000 in damage.

9:50 A.M. – 2017 triaxle BRANDT 30’ flat deck trailer stolen overnight from a pipeline company who had rented it from “All Choice Rentals” In Drayton Valley.

10:04 A.M. – Complaint received from a RMH resident advising that he had been scammed out of $1,500 after receiving a phone call from a software company stating that his computer was compromised and they needed money to fix it. He notified his bank and cancelled his credit card.

4:22 P.M. – B&E reported to a residence on Range Road 5-1, near Twp Rd 36-4, Clearwater County. Under investigation.

7:33 P.M. – 2005 silver DODGE Durango reported stolen from a residence on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve.

11:49 P.M. – B&E reported to a residence in RMH after the owner was gone for a few days. Entry was gained through bedroom window and numerous items were stolen from the house and garage. Under investigation.

April 8

9:30 A.M. – Attempted theft of a truck overnight from a RMH residence. The ignition was damaged.
