Drayton Valley RCMP Report: April 1 – April 8

April 1

5:41 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Report of a semi-truck blocking one lane making it hard to drive around. Members attended location but the truck was already gone.

6:57 am – Drayton Valley – Beckett Rd. – Report that vehicle was broken into, $4 worth of change taken as well as some papers. No suspects or witnesses.

7:50 am – Drayton Valley – Beckett Rd. – Report of a break and enter to garage. Garage door was not locked and 2 peddle bikes were stolen. Plastic container with papers from vehicle break-in was left at location for more valuable bikes.

8:15 am – Drayton Valley – 44 Ave – Report of a red metal toolbox sitting in the greenspace. Toolbox came from the vehicle that was broken into earlier.

9:07 am – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Wallet that was found on the street was turned into the RCMP detachment.

10:04 am – Brazeau County – RR 81 – MVC – Dodge truck hit a Brazeau County grader, no injuries, minor damage to the grader, and significant damage to the Dodge Ram.

10:05 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Request for a well-being check on 20-year-old male. Reports from family that he was upset that no one would give him money so he threatened to harm himself. Members located male, he was cooperative and showed no ideation of harming himself.

3:33 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave – Request for members to attend business to remove female that was smoking drugs in the store. Members attended the location but female was gone when she heard the police had been called.

4:45 pm – Drayton Valley – Rotary House – Report of an unwanted male in the bathroom refusing to leave location. Members attended location and spoke to the male about locking himself in the bathroom and causing problems for staff.

5:43 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of cheque fraud. Complainant advised that someone stole her chequebook and wrote some cheques. Still under investigation.

5:47 pm – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Report of a mental health patient that has run away from the hospital due to lack of security at the hospital. Members located male hours later after he stole money from the Petlife store. SOC was then transported to the Ponoka mental hospital by RCMP members.

5:53 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – 911 open line. Members attended location, residence owner advised that he was having problems with his landline.

5:57 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – 911 Armed Robbery. Mental health male that had escaped from the hospital earlier in the day entered a store and stole money from a donation box and the owner’s purse. Members located SOC and arrested him for theft and, under the Mental Health Act, SOC was transported to the Ponoka Centennial Centre for treatment by RCMP members.

8:50 pm – Drayton Valley – 20 Ave – Report of a possible intoxicated female in the store. Store employee refused service and the female left the location. Members made patrols of the area but were not able to locate the vehicle.

11:23 pm – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Report of a group of people in the parking lot shooting off fireworks, running around, and yelling. Members attended location and spoke to some of the people in the parking lot. No charges laid.

April 2

7:39 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Ave – Report of a theft from work truck. Members attended location. The toolboxes were not locked, tools and other items stolen. No damage to the vehicle, no suspects no witnesses.

8:35 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting custody dispute. Father is refusing to return child. Court order does not state same.

9:29 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Ave – Report of a stolen holiday trailer. Complainant is gone for the weekend and heard from his father that his holiday trailer is missing from the residence. Member attended location. SUI.

3:38 pm – Brazeau County – Country Style Trailer Court – Report of a suspicious vehicle parked in a vacant lot. Members attended location and checked the vehicle. Vehicle checked out, no issues.

4:27 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Ave – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a violation ticket for failing to provide insurance card.

8:15 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 759 – Report of an abandoned vehicle in complainant’s field. Members checked vehicle, it had broken down and was waiting to be repaired.

8:31 pm – Drayton Valley Landfill – Report from site security that someone was digging through the garbage. Members made patrols but did not find anyone.

April 3

12:10 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant calling to report threats of damage to vehicle. Ongoing issue. Member following up with suspect.

12:33 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Report of a possible impaired driver leaving the Drayton Valley area, no vehicle description provided.

2:03 am – Drayton Valley – 44 Ave – Report of fireworks going off in the neighbourhood. Members attended location and spoke to the resident that was setting off the fireworks. Warning issued.

2:57 am – Rocky Rapids – Report that complainant heard a gunshot. Unknown what direction the shot came from. Members made patrols of the area but no further loud noises were heard or reported.

4:01 am – Rocky Rapids – Report of a possible impaired driver, vehicle description provided but direction of travel not provided. Members made patrols of the area but no vehicle located.

4:04 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting a disturbance in stairway of the Econorest. Members attended and observed individuals who were intoxicated having an argument. Members calmed individuals down and advised them to go to bed.

4:25 am – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Court – Noise Complaint. Unknown if the neighbours are partying or fighting. Complainant can hear female screaming. Members followed up with the complainant, the neighbour has mental health issues.

6:00 am – Drayton Valley – 911 open line, female heard yelling. Members attended location, all parties intoxicated. Nothing physical.

7:01 am – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Theft of truck – Complainant reports that his blue GMC truck was stolen. Complainant says the truck was locked and the keys were not in the vehicle. SUI.

7:47 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reported copper wire been stolen from well site.

11:25 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting a drone in the area scoping out houses. Patrols made in area, no drone or vehicles located.

1:24 pm – Drayton Valley – 48 St – Request for assistance, possible mental health issues. Members attended the location. Complainant advised that the SOC was struggling with depression. Members located the SOC and discussed possible mental health options.

2:23 pm – Lodgepole – Report of dirt bikes jumping the road. Member attended and spoke to the kids about traffic safety. Warning issued.

4:26 pm – Parkland County –RR 80 – Report of a structure fire. Member attended location and watched as the fire department put out the fire. Structure was a vacant chicken coop.

7:41 pm – Lodgepole – Report of a possible trespasser on the property. Members attended the location but found no one on the property, no damage noted.

9:47 pm – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Court – Report of a break in to complainants shed. Members attended the location. Complainant was missing some tools and fishing equipment. Neighbourhood inquiries done, no witnesses.

10:18 pm – Brazeau County – Cynthia area – Multiple 911 hang ups from a 911 prefix. Call radius of nearly 7 km. Members unable to locate caller.

April 4

12:05 am – Drayton Valley – 38 St – Report of loud music at complainant’s neighbour’s residence. Members attended the location and spoke to the homeowner. The music was turned off, warning issued.

3:00 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Suspicious small red car driving in the back alley, members made patrols of the area and located the vehicle. Members attempted a traffic stop but the vehicle fled the location.

12:24 pm – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Complainant reporting suspicious activity. Basement is smoldering and smoke pouring out. Complainant put fire out.

2:07 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd. – Complainant reporting shoplifter at a business. Suspect entered store and took a pair of black Reebok sneakers. Suspect is a male who took off on a white bike. Male banned from store.

6:59 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 Ave – Complainant requesting assistance with bank foreclosure on house. Occupants are still inside and refusing to leave. Members attended, job for bailiffs.

8:27 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant calling to report female is in the store and states they do not know where they live. Members attended and located female who knew address but couldn’t remember how to get there. Member provided courtesy ride.

8:19 pm – Drayton Valley – Members returning to detachment saw a vehicle approach appearing to be lost. Complainant having some issues. Complainant advised to go to the hospital. Experiencing paranoia.

10:54 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant called to request a wellbeing check on individual. Members attended. Individual intoxicated and sleeping.

April 5

12:52 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant calling to report concern of male. Members attended and located male who was fine.

1:16 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a male at the landfill with a flashlight looking into the dumpsters. Members attended and located known male who was arrested on outstanding warrants.

6:52 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – 911 abandoned call. Member attended and spoke with occupant who advised there were issues with the nearby Telus tower. 3 MORE CALLS RECEIVED. Telus working on the problem.

9:09 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting vehicles inside a compound have been vandalized. Ignitions have been tampered with and door handles damaged.

9:39 am – Brazeau County – 911 hang up from residential landline. Telus is working on the phone lines in the area. Issue with the phone lines.

10:13 am – Brazeau County – RR 71 – Complainant reporting theft of camper. Jayco Eagle. Occurred sometime in the past two weeks.

12:50 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – 911 hang up received. Ongoing issues with phone line.

1:39 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant requesting a wellbeing check. Members attended location, female was fine.

2:49 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant calling requesting assistance with obtaining documents regarding estate.

8:11 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Ave – Complainant reporting a possible intoxicated driver near the Omniplex. Silver Pontiac Sunfire. Observed occupants drinking. Members attended and located vehicle, driver not legally impaired, passenger appeared intoxicated.

10:42 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 St – Complainant reporting an erratic driver. In addition, a truck is revving its engine and is really loud. Members patrolled the area, vehicle not located.

April 6

12:31 am – Drayton Valley – 51 St – Complainant reporting a dumpster fire. Vehicle is parked behind the dumpster. Member attended and found it was a butcher shop curing meat with a smoker in the back alley.

2:46 am – Drayton Valley – 56 Street – Complainant reporting a male wearing a hoodie is trespassing at the landfill. Throwing stuff out of the bins. Members attended, male gone prior to arrival.

10:00 am – Drayton Valley – Warrant added for male breaching his probation.

10:23 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a fraud by an ex-employee. Under investigation.

11:02 am – Drayton Valley – 43 Ave – Complainant reported his vehicle was entered and rifled through and extensively vandalized.

11:00 am – Brazeau County – RR 81 –Complainant reported trespassing had previously occurred in gravel pits. Lock broken off, recommendations made to complainant.

11:42 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a cell phone stolen from a business, possible suspect descriptions provided. Suspects located but were confirmed to be not in possession of the described phone.

12:01 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported minor collision in the Tim Horton’s drive-thru. Under investigation.

12:16 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Center Blvd/62 St – Members attended to a 2 vehicle collision with minor injuries. Under investigation.

1:29 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 492 – Complainant reported a deer collided with his vehicle.

2:33 pm – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge area – Complainant reported culprits entered a business yard, broke into an enclosed trailer, and stole a 2011 Polaris snowmobile. Under investigation.

2:53 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complaint received of fraud; email received allegedly from a contracted business requesting complainant change banking deposit information for payments. Under investigation.

3:14 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a group of partiers that left a fire burning and garbage at an abandoned well site.

4:10 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported an acquaintance driving without a license. Vehicle description provided, patrols made, car not located.

4:46 pm – Drayton Valley – Museum – Complainant reported that an unknown vehicle backed into and damaged a fence.

11:20 pm – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported sending $10,000 to an alleged lender in Ontario to secure a loan for $150,000. Complainant realized it was a scam. Under investigation.

April 7

12:07 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a possible impaired driver, after witnessing a male drinking in a black Ram pickup. Members located the vehicle which resulted in the GDL driver being issued a 30-day suspension and his truck being impounded for 7 days.

1:14 am – Drayton Valley – 56A St – Complainant reported two males pushing bikes with loads of wire. Members patrolled the area but the suspects weren’t located.

8:25 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Complainant reported hitting a deer.

9:03 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported location of a vehicle involved in a hit and run. Members attended the area but truck not located. Under investigation.

9:33 am – Brazeau County – Joshua Blvd – Complainant called from out of town requesting a wellbeing check on family members. Member determined family members were fine.

9:49 am – Drayton Valley – Hospital – Hangup 911 call from hospital. No emergency, just misdial.

10:18 am – Drayton Valley – 55 Ave – Complainant reported mischief to the playground at Aurora School. Profanity spray-painted on playground equipment. Under investigation with possible suspects identified.

10:28 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant turned in a wallet located roadside near Bentley, belonging to a person in Drayton Valley area. Owner contacted and wallet returned.

10:48 am – Drayton Valley – 34 Ave – Complainant reported previous incident of parking rage which resulted in a co-worker damaging complainant’s vehicle. Incident dealt with at work but file number needed for insurance claim.

11:28 am – Drayton Valley – Assist Probation with an arrest warrant.

12:18 pm – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant located a burnt-out skidoo. Member attended, retrieved parts left behind. Under investigation but believed to have been someone improperly disposing of parts.

3:36 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported an ex was stalking her on Tik Tok. Member investigated, contact deemed not to be harassing in nature and not threatening.

4:09 pm – Brazeau County – RR 81 – Complainant reported a domestic dispute. Members attended, under investigation.

6:59 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Ave – Complainant reported a suspicious male pacing in alleyway. Member attended, suspect not located.

7:25 pm – Drayton Valley – 43 Ave – Members requested to assist Fire Dep’t with a structure fire. Member attended, no structure fire. Smoke caused by defective batteries in the garage.

10:14 pm –Drayton Valley – 47 Ave/54 St – Complainant reported two females intoxicated inside a vehicle, last seen headed west. Member located the vehicle and the driver was issued a 24-hour suspension.

April 8

3:32 am – Drayton Valley – 55A Ave – File created after complainant reported directly to a member that her vehicle had been entered and some property stolen.

7:26 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a male dumpster diving, would like him removed prior to customers arriving. Members attended, male had left.
