City facilities, programs adjust to return of Step 1 public health restrictions
The City of Red Deer is making adjustments to accommodate the return of Step 1 public health restrictions in Alberta.
“We know the ever-changing restrictions are frustrating for our community, but we continue to do everything we can to keep our community healthy and safe while acknowledging the economic, social and health challenges this pandemic creates,” said City Manager Allan Seabrooke.
Due to the April 6 announcement, city officials say low-intensity fitness Activity Reservations, such as the walking track at Servus Arena and the fitness and wellness studios at both the G.H. Dawe Community Centre and Collicutt Centre, will no longer be available. Existing Activity Reservations in these areas will be cancelled and credits will be applied to user accounts. Customers with a monthly pass will be contacted and pro-rated credits will be applied as of April 7. As a result of the recent software upgrade, credits are now viewable and accessible online through Look ‘n Book accounts.
“After thorough review of yesterday’s new provincial restrictions, we have been able to determine the activities that we can continue to offer in a safe and responsible manner,” said Barb McKee, Recreation Superintendent. “We are committed to providing as many opportunities for family fun, emotional well-being and physical activity as possible within the provincial guidelines.”
