Red Deer RCMP charge motorist travelling at extreme speed
A Red Deer man is facing charges after being stopped for driving more than double the posted speed limit near the city’s downtown last month.
On Mar. 12, RCMP conducted speed enforcement via stationary laser on Ross Street, near 46 Ave.
During the operation, at approximately 1:30 p.m. police observed a vehicle travelling at 102 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. Mounties say the vehicle was stopped and the driver identified as a 34 year-old male from Red Deer.
Due to the extreme speed and the risk posed to the public, the driver was summoned to court to appear before a Judge.
