Province launches online survey on Occupational Health and Safety Code
EDMONTON, AB– The provincial government is launching an online survey to hear from Albertans on the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Code.
Officials say they want to “improve health and safety outcomes for workers and streamline requirements to reduce unnecessary administrative burden.”
As part of their three-year plan of reviewing the OHS Code, getting public engagement is an early step. During each phase, parts of the code will be reviewed, Albertans will be engaged to provide feedback, and the code will be updated and implemented.
“The OHS Code has not been extensively updated since 2009 and changes are long overdue. Health and safety rules need to keep pace with changes to workplaces, standards, best practices, and technological advances,” says Minister of Labour and Immigration, Jason Copping.
