Red Deer – Mountain View Member of Parliament Earl Dreeshen has tabled a petition in the House of regarding the ongoing genocide of the Uyghurs in China.
Last month, members voted to support a Conservative motion calling on the government to recognize that a genocide is currently being carried out by the People’s Republic of China against Uyghurs and other Turkic Muslims in China.
“The petition I tabled in the House of Commons yesterday calls on the government to formally recognize that Uyghurs in China have been, and are being, subjected to genocide,” said Dreeshen.” It also calls on the government use the Justice for Victims of Corrupt Foreign Officials Act and sanction those that are responsible for the heinous crimes being committed against the Uyghur people.”
Dreeshen added, “It is time for this Liberal government to respect the will of this place as well as the will of Canadians.”
