Red Deer man gets two-year sentence for child luring

A Red Deer man has been ordered to spend two years behind bars for child luring offenses.

Wayne David Taylor, 60, was also given three years’ probation when he was sentenced in a Red Deer courtroom on March 18.

Taylor pleaded guilty in October to counts of child luring and making sexually explicit material available to a child. He was initially charged with 10 counts overall.

Court heard the offenses in question occurred between March 1 and May 28, 2020.

It was May 29 when Red Deer RCMP, with the assistance of Alert’s Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit, arrested and charged a man after he allegedly attempted to lure multiple children for sexual purposes.

Mounties said the suspect had engaged in electronic and in-person communication with three child victims, aged eight, nine, and 10, and described those communications as predatory in nature.
