Penhold Volunteer Fire Department members responded to a call of a possible fire at a commercial building in the town late Monday evening.
It was at 10:30 p.m. when crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire in what was described as a multiple occupancy commercial property.
There were three occupants of the structure who evacuated and waited for emergency services. The occupant called 911 upon smelling smoke from the venting system.
“Crews determined the smell was coming from a faulty furnace and shut the unit down,” said Captain Josh Wilson.
