One win, one loss weekend for the Drayton Valley Thunder

It was a one win, one loss weekend for the Drayton Valley Thunder in AJHL action.

Ty Whitford was the hero for Drayton Valley as he scored the only two goals in a 2-0 win over the Whitecourt Wolverines on Friday. Both goals came on the Thunder powerplay that went 2-for-6 on the night.

Thunder goalie Eric Ward made 40 saves for the shutout.

On Saturday, Drayton Valley fell 3-1 to the Grande Prairie Storm.

The Thunder opened the scoring 56 seconds into the first on a goal by Dylan Price.

Carter Myrol tied the game for the Strom with a shorthanded goal just over seven minutes later. Paycen Bjorklund scored eight minutes after that to make it 2-1 Storm.

Cooper Connell rounded out the Grande Prairie scoring just over seven minutes into period three.

Mitchell Dudar made 37 saves for the Thunder in the loss, and Joe Howe made 32 saves for Grande Prairie.

The Thunder and Storm play again on March 26 at 7 p.m. at the Drayton Valley Omniplex.
