Registry Agents deliver over 55,000 road tests in two months: AARA
The association representing registry agents in the province says over 55,000 passenger vehicle road tests have been delivered to Albertans during the first two months since the re-privatization of most road test examiners.
This a 100% percent increase over last year and the highest monthly number of road tests ever delivered in the province, says the Association of Alberta Registry Agents (AARA).
Last Fall, Alberta Transportation Minister Ric McIver announced that starting January 5, 2021, local registry agents would begin to deliver passenger vehicle road tests with strong government oversight. The new road test model was put into place after the government delivery of road tests was unable to meet demand and backlogs in the system lead to frustration from Albertans.
“Since Minister McIver’s announcement last October, our members have worked tirelessly in a very short period of time to be ready to deliver road tests to Albertans. Thank you to our members, Alberta Transportation, Service Alberta and our technology partners for their collaboration and efforts in making the transition to the new road test model a great success,” says Craig Couillard, AARA Presidents. “It is best in class in North America.”
