Mar 16, 2021 | 12:24 PM

The Olds Grizzlys were back in game action this past weekend as the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) resumed regular season play.

A nail biter of a game was played Saturday as the Drumheller Dragons hosted the Grizzlys in a 3-2 OT win for the winged lizards.

The first period ended tied 1-1 on goals by Grayson Dietrich for the Dragons and Dawson Leroux for the Grizzlys.

The second period became a goalie duel between Ty Marcinkowski of Olds and Drumheller’s Garrett Fuller as they combined to make 31 saves over 20 minutes.

Tyson Gross gave the Dragons the lead early in the third before Brendan McBride got that one back for the Grizz less than three minutes later, sending the game to overtime.

Just 57 second into overtime, Carter Belitski scored the winner for the Dragons.

The Grizzlys didn’t have to wait long to get a win, however, as they hosted the Camrose Kodiaks Sunday, winning 4-2.

Joshua Zinger scored the game-tying and game-winning goals for the Grizzlys, set up both times by Jacob Paler-Chow.

Tristan Martin only had to stop 16 out of the 18 shots he faces from the Kodiaks, who scored both their goals on the power play.

Next up the Grizzlys visit Camrose for a 7 p.m. game this Friday, March 19 before returning home to host the Dragons Saturday at 2 p.m.
