Gowns 4 Grads happening March 19-23 in Red Deer

Mar 14, 2021 | 5:00 PM

Pandemic or not, a Gowns 4 Grads event is happening this month in Red Deer.

The event is taking place March 19-23, including from 10-7 the first four days, and then 10-4 the final day, at the Red Deer Elks Hall (6315 Horn Street).

“The need is especially apparent right now because of the economic effect the pandemic has had on everyone,” says Tammy Higginbottom, a member of the Trenville Royal Purple Elks, the organization hosting the event.

“I’ve had mothers reaching out asking if and when we’d be hosting our event, and it’s because their families have been affected financially due to job losses.”

Donations of grad attire are welcome, and they need not be limited to items for females. Organizers appreciate if donated clothing can be washed/drycleaned beforehand as they don’t have the capacity to do so.

Due to COVID-19 health regulations, one must book an appointment to try on clothing or donate by calling or texting Dawna at 403-358-9873. Walk-ins will not be permitted.

Local school divisions have not yet announced plans for grad ceremonies and celebrations.
