The RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit (MCU) has been called in to help investigate following the discovery of human remains found in a house that burned to the ground near Maskwacis on Mar. 8.
Mounties say MCU investigators were assisted by Maskwacis RCMP, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, an anthropologist, and an RCMP Police Dog Services member from St. Paul, who used a human remains detection dog.
Firestorm Consulting Group was also contracted and is assisting with the origin and cause of the house fire.
Police say an autopsy on the remains has been scheduled for this week.
