Olds College celebrating Alberta agriculture with live streamed event

Mar 5, 2021 | 9:11 AM

Olds College has announced plans to celebrate the province’s agriculture industry and the important role that it plays throughout the world.

A Celebration of Alberta Ag, is a free two-hour live streamed event that will run from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. on April 9, and can be viewed at oldscollege.ca/CelebrateAlbertaAg.

“From field to fork, and all the producers and businesses in between that support our food supply chain, agriculture plays a vital role in the economic success of Alberta,” says Stuart Cullum, President, Olds College, in a press release. “We are looking forward to celebrating our vibrant Ag industry in Alberta, sharing information about the Olds College Smart Farm and our hands-on, high-tech learning experiences, and celebrating the many partners who contribute to the success of Olds College.”

Streamed live from the Olds College campus, the evening’s program will also include an appearance by Alberta born country music star — Corb Lund.

Officials say the event aims to showcase the College’s hands-on program offering and student experience, celebrate industry partners, and as always, help to bring awareness and raise funds for student bursaries.

A Celebration of Alberta Ag will be replacing the College’s annual fundraiser, Homestead Feast, that due to COVID-19 restrictions, has been canceled for a second year.

People interested in attending A Celebration of Alberta Ag can register for their free ticket and be entered into a draw to win one of three Field to Fork gift baskets at oldscollege.ca/CelebrateAlbertaAg.
