Drayton Valley RCMP Report: February 25 – March 3

February 25

10:08 AM – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported an abandoned vehicle on the property of the south side Esso. Members attended and spoke with owner who was working in town. They moved the vehicle later that day.

10:21 AM – Brazeau County – RR 75 – Drayton Valley RCMP, Fire Services, and ambulance attended for a workplace incident. Police have turned over the investigation to Work Safe Alberta.

10:55 AM – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – A bail of hay was found blocking traffic on the North Saskatchewan Bridge. EMCOM responded and cleared the hazard.

10:59 AM – Brazeau County – Country Style Trailer Court– Report of an aggressive salesperson in the trailer court. Members attended but the salesmen had departed the park before police arrived. RCMP encourage people to contact the company if the salesperson becomes aggressive.

February 26

9:02 AM – Cynthia – Brazeau County – Peace Officer conducting a traffic stop located a male with a warrant. Member attended, arrested the male, and released him to appear at a later date, as per the request of agency holding the warrant.

9:06 AM – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported water from a spring causing a hazard on Hwy 620 as it was creating ice. Member contacted responsible agency who were already aware of the problem.

9:40 AM – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a female who was suicidal. Member attended the female’s residence and determined she had already been assessed by qualified professionals and deemed to be not a danger to herself.

10:06 AM – Parkland Country – RR 61 – RCMP attended Tomahawk School for a report of a break and enter to a shed on the property. Video footage was obtained and the investigation is ongoing.

10:20 AM – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported finding a debit card of another person in the belongings of a resident of a group home. Member investigated and dealt with the issue through alternative means.

11:04 AM – Brazeau County – Complainant reported losing control, sliding into the ditch, and hitting a tree while travelling North on RR 80. No injuries reported.

1:14 PM – Parkland County – Complainant reported he was travelling east on Twp Rd 510, slid on ice, and hit a guardrail.

3:18 PM – Hwy 22 – Road rage – Police attended an incident on Hwy 22 south of Hwy 39 junction where an ice fishing shack reportedly fell off a trailer, almost hitting another vehicle. There was a confrontation on the side of the highway. Both left the scene without violence. Suspect vehicle not located and no plate was provided.

3:31 PM – Drayton Valley – Power Center Blvd – Complaint received regarding a car apparently abandoned in a parking lot with no plate. Member attended, vehicle not stolen, registered owner contacted and told to move the vehicle or the property owner would have it towed.

3:44 PM – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported seeing what was believed to be a hand-to-hand drug transaction between two vehicles. Member located the car but it turned out to be a bake sale fundraiser transaction.

5:02 PM – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Suspicious person called in. Members attended but could not locate the suspicious person.

7:09 PM – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported child custody exchange issues; his ex had picked up their child without speaking to him and had just come into his house. No charges, advice given on respecting personal space and on communication.

February 27

01:04 AM – Drayton Valley – Police responded to a distress alarm at Walmart. An employee had entered the code in wrong. The alarm was false.

12:44 AM – Drayton Valley – Member on patrol was flagged down by a male reporting his ex had locked him out of the house they still share. Apparently, the complainant previously lost his key and his ex had simply left and locked the house. Advice was given, not a police matter.

8:40 AM – Tomahawk – Complainant reported an erratic driver heading north on Hwy 759. Plate provided didn’t match vehicle description. Evansburg RCMP advised, vehicle and driver were located after the driver rear-ended a sanding truck near Hwy 627. Evansburg RCMP issued the driver multiple tickets.

6:42 PM – Drayton Valley – A keen-eyed person located a backpack near the Northview pond. The bag was brought to the RCMP detachment. The owner was contacted and reunited with the bag after 2 months of it being stolen.

7:37 PM – Lodgepole – Complainant reported an intoxicated male on Hwy 620 just south of Hwy 753. Member attended, male not located.

8:35 PM – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant reported a possible domestic-related breach; male in contact with a female against his conditions. Members investigated, no breach was confirmed or suspected.

9:32 PM – Brazeau County – Drayton Valley RCMP responded to a break and enter to a lease site. A truck was located and items from the lease site were located. The driver was arrested and released for court on a later date.

10:19 PM – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Police responded to a call of an impaired driver who left a restaurant in a black SUV. Patrols were made but the vehicle was not located.

10:25 PM – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/Hwy 22 – Police responded to a second complaint of a possible impaired driver, this time in a white truck. Patrols were made, vehicle not located.

10:53 PM – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Complainant reported a white sedan stunting in the parking lot. Member attended, vehicle gone. Insufficient information to identify owner or driver.

February 28

3:53 AM – Parkland County – Hwy 624 – Member responded to a hangup 911 call at a residence police attended about a week earlier. Call confirmed false, no emergency.

8:38 AM – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Police responded to a complaint of a male passed out behind the wheel of running by an apartment building. The truck was identified as the vehicle from the impaired reported the previous evening. A breath test was done which determined alcohol wasn’t involved. Driver issued a 24-hour suspension due to suspected drug use. A passenger in the vehicle was arrested on a warrant out of Leduc.

10:36 AM – Brazeau County – Police were called by paramedics to a report of a deceased male. Death not suspicious, likely due to chronic health concerns. Medical examiner notified.

3:27 PM – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported finding a disturbing drawing and suspected it was the work of her ex. Under investigation.

4:14 PM – Drayton Valley – Complainant dropped off a court order requiring police involvement.

5:15 PM – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported her ex yelled at her during a custody exchange. No offence took place, the two parents disagree on a matter involving one of their children. Complainant requested it be documented.

5:28 PM – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported a business breaching health orders as the sector hadn’t been cleared to re-open. Member contacted health inspector who advised the business was open due to a loophole. Alberta Health advised in case they want to investigate or take further action.

8:25 PM – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Member on patrol located a vehicle stunting in the parking lot. Appropriate ticket issued to driver.

March 1

12:47 AM – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Call received from hotel staff reporting a male causing a disturbance, using racial slurs, and claiming his company would pay for a reservation. Member attended and found the male calm and using the lobby computer. The male contacted his boss who confirmed the male’s story and paid for a room. Complainant had no issues with this resolution.

7:08 AM – Tomahawk – Complainant reported theft of fuel overnight from the County yard. Similar report about a week prior. Under investigation.

9:57 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant requesting police assistance with serving eviction notice. Members attended, individuals to be evicted not there. Members kept the peace.

12:22 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting vehicles taken without permission. Vehicles were towed by ex-roommate. Member spoke with all individuals and determined this was a landlord-tenant matter.

4:32 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Complainant requesting assistance of members as they have a concern for their safety. Members attended, complainant taken to hospital.

6:40 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant called to request a wellbeing check on their friend. Member met with friend who went to the hospital.

7:51 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Street – Request for police assistance from EMS. Female is acting erratic, throwing things around, and experiencing drug-induced psychosis. Members attended and transported female.

March 2

3:46 am – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – The victim of an assault attended the detachment to report that they were beaten up by 3-4 unknown people at the Econorest. Emergency Medical Services was called and the victim was transported to hospital for treatment. The matter is under investigation.

4:30 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Complainant is requesting the removal of homeless person sleeping in the entrance. Member attended and located male who agreed to leave.

7:27 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Police were called to an unruly teenager at a residence. Police declined to get involved in the parenting and instead gave the teenager a ride to a friend’s residence.

7:13 am – Brazeau County – 56 Avenue – A lifted white 2002 Ford F-350 with Alberta license plate DEU-285 with a flat deck and toolbox near the headache rack was stolen from a business compound sometime overnight. The suspect(s) drove through the gate causing significant damage.

9:58 am – Drayton Valley – 40 Street – Report of a hit and run that occurred 2 weeks prior. A suspect vehicle has been identified and is under investigation.

11:14 am – Drayton Valley – Report of unwanted communication, mostly through social media. Advice given on how to block/protect yourself while online.

2:33 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/39 – Complaint of ongoing issue with vehicles, primarily large trucks, not coming to a complete stop at the intersection. General complaint, not specific vehicles identified.

2:55 pm – Drayton Valley – 55 Street – Suspicious property that the caller thinks may be stolen. Items were casings from copper wire.

3:06 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complaint of a disturbance at a residence between siblings. Police spoke with the parents and the issue had resolved itself.

4:40 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Verbal altercation at an apartment. When police arrived the parties had already separated to their individual apartments, police suggested they avoid each other for the rest of the evening.

5:12 pm – Drayton Valley – Request for a wellbeing check. Police located and confirmed the safety of the involved parties.

6:09 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Evicted tenants returned to the unit and were trying to get in. They left prior to police needing to attend.

10:09 pm – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 – Report of a suspicious person that got dropped off by a truck on the road. Members attended, nobody in the area, likely a hitchhiker getting dropped off.

March 3

8:15 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting a verbal argument. Members attended and spoke with complainant who advised the other party had left prior to arrival. Complainant arrested for outstanding warrant.

10:00 am – Rocky Rapids – Complainant reporting their son was hit in the legs while playing hockey. Complainant would like other party spoken to.

10:39 am – Drayton Valley – Email received requesting assistance on serving individual who failed to appear for fingerprinting.

10:48 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting ex has breached their EPO. Statement taken.

12:55 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Report received of an alarm at residence. Member attended, alarm had been hit accidentally.

1:53 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a theft. Ex has arrived at residence and is removing things. No agreement in place. Civil matter and needs to be dealt with through court.

3:10 pm – Drayton Valley – Hospital calling to request police assistance in locating male that has left. Member located male at their residence and returned them to the hospital.

3:28 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting receiving text messages and Facetime requests from unknown person. Member advised complainant to block numbers.

5:22 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complainant reporting receiving threats. Members attended, parties had been separated. Member spoke with complainant who advised they only wanted the incident reported.

6:29 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Violation ticket issued to driver.
