Shandro, Hinshaw share COVID-19 update for March 2

Mar 2, 2021 | 3:50 PM

Alberta’s health minister and chief medical officer of health are set to provide the latest update on the COVID-19 situation in the province.

Tyler Shandro and Dr. Deena Hinshaw will speak during a news conference scheduled for 4 p.m. You can watch the news conference below once it begins.

Alberta announced Monday that it is opening up libraries and allowing low-intensity indoor group fitness workouts, like Pilates and tai chi.

Alberta Premier Jason Kenney says that with COVID-19 numbers starting to plateau and the danger of variants spreading, relaxed restrictions announced yesterday aren’t going as far as some people hoped.

The second phase of the province’s economic relaunch plan was also expected to include expanded crowds in retail stores and eased restrictions on hotels, conference centres and community halls.

Kenney told a news conference yesterday that “we’re not out of the woods, but we can continue taking small steps forward.”
