Red Deer down to 499 active COVID-19 cases

For the first time in 10 days Red Deer has fewer than 500 active cases of COVID-19.

Red Deer has 499 active cases as of Sunday, down 36 from Saturday.

There have been 2,252 recoveries, an increase of 41 as the total number of cases attributed to Red Deer rose by just five to a total of 2,776.

The number of deaths in Red Deer linked to COVID-19 remains 25.

Overall, Alberta confirmed 301 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.

That’s out of 7,503 test results over the past 24 hours for a positivity rate of about 4.0 per cent.

The number of active cases in the province is 4,584, an increase of 38 from Saturday. Recoveries are up 260 to a total of 127,034.

There are now 250 Albertans in hospital due to COVID-19, down 12 from Saturday, including 46 in intensive care, down five.

Three additional COVID-19 deaths were also reported to Alberta Health in the last 24 hours to bring the province’s total to 1,886.

As of Sunday, there have been 430 total variant cases of COVID-19 in the province, an increase of 29 over the past day, including 422 cases of the UK variant.

Alberta has administered 227,678 doses of COVID-19 vaccine as of Feb. 27.

The Central Zone has 670 active cases and 34 hospitalizations, unchanged. Ten people are receiving intensive care for COVID-19 at Red Deer Regional Hospital, up one. The zone has had 111 COVID-related deaths, none of which were reported in the past 24 hours.
