One dead after crash with semi-truck east of Drayton Valley

One person has died following a serious motor vehicle collision on Tuesday morning just east of Drayton Valley.

Drayton Valley RCMP and emergency services were called to the scene of a crash at approximately 6:40 a.m. on Highway 22 and Highway 39 in Brazeau County.

Preliminary investigation indicates a semi-truck was westbound on Highway 39 and in the process of turning southbound onto Highway 22 when a car that was following the semi-truck struck it at the rear.

The 25-year-old driver and lone occupant of the car from Leduc County was pronounced deceased on scene by EMS. The name of the deceased will not be released.

Traffic was disrupted in the area until late Tuesday afternoon while an RCMP collision analyst investigated the scene.
