Coldest Night of the Year raises $84,500 for The Mustard Seed

This year’s Coldest Night of the Year fundraiser was a tremendous success in support of The Mustard Seed in Red Deer.

The month-long event brought in $84,500, far surpassing the fundraising goal of $25,000.

“Over 67 teams, 256 walkers from all over Central Alberta participated this year in the event,” shared Scott Tilbury with The Mustard Seed. “The money raised will be used to feed vulnerable men, women and children who are currently accessing our Hot Meal and School Lunch programs.”

The top fundraising team (Team Sypkes) raised over $13,000, ranking 48^th in the country and will be presented with a grand prize and top fundraising plaque next week.

“We are so thankful for this year’s results and opportunities to connect with so many compassionate Central Albertans during package pickup,” Tilbury adds.

Next week we will be announcing the winners of the prizes from our CNOY Draws. All walkers names were entered into a draw to win gift certificates from our many sponsors. We are waiting for all teams to complete their walks. There is one very large community team for example walking in Three Hills on Friday.

If you registered a team and collected donations for the Coldest Night of the Year, you can drop them off to The Mustard Seed, Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
