Alberta RCMP confirm an investigation remains open into an alleged targeted home invasion in Red Deer four years ago.

Police say it was on Jan. 31, 2021 at around 7:20 p.m. when members responded to a 911 call about a home invasion at 58A Avenue in Riverside Meadows.

Mounties say two victims were located with minor injuries, while the culprits believed responsible fled prior to police arrival. RCMP allege the male suspects stole the homeowner’s orange Honda Element and left in it, as well as in a white truck.

Investigation at the time determined that the trio of males gained access to the house with help from one female, who was an occupant at the residence. Mounties say the males were not known to the victims, and they were wearing masks when they allegedly assaulted the victims and stole a bank card. The males were also said to be in possession of guns.

The female accomplice, Marie-Line Lariviere, 54 at the time, was charged with one count of robbery with a firearm. She was released from custody and later saw the charge withdrawn on Oct. 4, 2021. According to the Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS), the available evidence was not sufficient to proceed with a prosecution.

On Feb. 1, 2021, RCMP recovered the Honda Element in an apartment building parking lot at 59 Avenue and 60 Street, also in Riverside Meadows.

RCMP say no charges have been laid to this point regarding the three male suspects in the incident.
